Why This Reference Exists
Printed Bloomington directories became historical sources, while the facts people seek moved into separate systems. Ownership is maintained by the Monroe County Assessor and Recorder. Election officials administer voter records under Indiana law. The Monroe County Public Library Indiana Room, Monroe County History Center, Indiana State Library, and Indiana Memory preserve older directories and indexes. We organize those distinct routes without pretending they form a complete current household list.
What You Can Find
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Indiana law opens, what stays closed, and how an APRA request works when something is not online
Limits on Our Role
This is a privately run reference site. It has no connection to the City of Bloomington, any Monroe County department, an Indiana agency, a court, or a library. These limits apply:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Bloomington
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot guarantee that every link, office detail, or coverage year remains current
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
